We have some fun opportunities coming up!
Vivid Motion has been invited to perform the half-time show for Maine Roller Derby's bout between the Port Authorities and Boston Massacre on Saturday April 23rd. The bout begins at 6:00 pm, at the Portland Expo.
To prepare for this exciting show we will be using the end of Company Class (8:15-9:00 pm) for the next few weeks to review choreography and set new stuff. Because it will be an arena venue, I'd really love it if we had a couple of numbers with 20 people - I think we can do it. So starting this Wednesday, March 16th, join us for Company Class at 7:00 pm and stay to start learning and reviewing some choreography!
Also, our Spring Show is right around the corner! If you would like to get involved with spring show by selling ads, ushering or helping out in the theater during tech week, please contact Producer Brigitte Paulus at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Vivid Motion presents Hollywood Dreams, a poignant story about growing up, told through dance in the unique Vivid Motion style. April 8-10th at the St. Lawrence Arts Center in Portland. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 25th and are available online at vividmotion.org or at Longfellow Books in downtown Portland.
Directed by Byron Nilsen, Hollywood Dreams stars VM newcomers Valorie Lake & Andre Demers; Will Ballou & Daphne Gerard, who melted hearts as the Snow Queen in Nutcracker Burlesque, gets to freeze hearts in Hollywood Dreams, as Bianca.
The story starts on the last night they all have together before everything changes. It's graduation and Holly has to decide if she'll pack her car to head off on her own, or stay where it's safe and go to school as her parents wish. Hollywood Dreams is told through dance, in the unique Vivid Motion style. Come see Holly go through dream after dream as she figures out whether she should stay or she should go. All the craziness and glamour of Hollywood shows up, shirtless men hunting birds and cats through a jungle, a Darth Vader rave, Superman, red carpet paparazzi and nightmares about what could go wrong. With music ranging from classic John Williams themes to Eminem and dance styles ranging from the lyrically emotive choreography of Emily Zack-Farrell to the crazy-fast hip hop style of Gerry Shannon, this is not a show to miss.
Dancers: Aaron Mitchell, Ali Shannon, Amy Gieseke, Andre Demers, Breanne Bailey, Brigitte Paulus, Catherine Perreault, Daphne Gerard, Gerry Shannon, JJ Heald, Julie Farides, Lauren Treidel, Luke Perry, Melissa Hoffman, Monica Koehler, Oren Stevens, Rachel Johnson, Samara Cole, Scott Potter, Shea Murphy, Sophie Little, Valorie Lake, Venus Murphy, Will Ballou
